The following information is provided to help you and us with your visit, so that we can provide you with the best level of care for your condition and you achieve the best outcome possible.

APPOINTMENTS

Looking for immediate care? Whilst appointment availability does vary day to day, in most instances we should be able to arrange an appointment for the same day, if not, certainly within 24 hours. Please phone on 9826 9866.

REFERRALS

While GP’s and Specialists seeking the best care for their patients often refer patients to Toorak Physiotherapy and Sports Therapy Centre, for private patients a referral is not necessary.

For patients claiming their treatments through a third party provider (e.g. Workcover, TAC, Veterans Affairs or EPC) a doctor’s referral will be necessary.

Importantly, private health insurers (e.g. Medibank Private, BUPA, NIB, Australian Unity etc.) do not require a medical referral.

WHAT TO BRING

If you have any relevant tests such as x-rays/medical imaging or a referral from your medical practitioner please bring these with you.

When attending your appointment please wear comfortable clothing. You may be requested to remove items of clothing so as to be examined and treated. If you have any concerns please mention this at your appointment.

YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT

Your initial appointment will take approximately 45 minutes. During the appointment we will:

  • Take a thorough history to gain a better understanding of your injury/condition
  • Examine your injury and identify the type, source and cause of symptoms
  • Diagnose your condition and discuss this with you
  • Provide hands-on treatment using techniques such as soft tissue massage, stretching, manipulation, mobilising and modalities like heat and ultrasound
  • Devise a treatment plan
  • Explain and educate you about your condition/injury
  • Provide an exercise program for you to follow at home
  • Follow up treatments usually last for 30 minutes

Payment is required at the time of consultation. The Clinic accepts cash, cheque, Eftpos and credit cards (Visa and MasterCard).

Claim your health insurance benefit on the spot. Please bring your fund card with you to every consultation.

All Clinic services are covered by Workcover. A doctor’s referral is required.

Physiotherapy services are covered by TAC and Veterans Affairs. A doctor’s referral may be required.

Talk to your G.P. about a possible referral under the Enhanced Primary Care scheme (EPC), giving you up to 5 covered physiotherapy treatments for chronic conditions per calendar year.

Toorak Physiotherapy and Sports Therapy Centre require a minimum 24 hour’s notice of cancellation. Late cancellation fees may apply.
